On a family trip to Italy, it was so hot we decided to go to an outdoor swimming pool to cool off. Unfortunately I’d forgotten to pack my swim shorts so had to borrow a pair, which led to this pretty embarrassing situation!
Here’s the story and the juice that came out of it…
Love the story – hope you got yourself a pair of Speedos in England! x
I can see why Italian men would envy you James, you are so natural, a real gift, you are you, a wonderful human being
I feel that this judgement is fairly common in me on my path of exploring the self, especially in day-to-day situations. like the one you mentioned. Often, it leads me to question the intensity or quality of my practice itself. But I am beginning to see through this play of the mind, and knowing that you too experience these moments is reassuring.
Thank you for addressing this!
Powerful, powerful video…fascinating experience and poignantly funny…thanks for sharing it !!!!
Well said James –beautiful insightful story, both funny and deeply meaningful. Thank you so much for sharing.
I like your story. Thank you for taking your time to share it with us and reminding us what is our true nature.
Ah yes, insufficiency, I’m not enough, I’m unloveable – boom (actually, not boom, but the opposite, like a sort of sucking in, along the lines of what a builder does while shaking his head sorrowfully as he inspects the extent of the work that needs to be done!) And judging the judgement – yuk, that one feels so horrible too. Oo oo oo these experiences are so familiar to me – and, yes, just dropping it all, in the moment, right there and then, is such a relief. Such a joke. Such a delight when you realise you can see right through it and it’s all just so charming somehow. I loved this story of the skinny white Englishman/glorious Celtic god (in his sky blue budgie-smugglers) just melting in the heat of the moment and trickling away, like a tiny rivulet of salty sweat. Laugh-out-loud funny, and deeply touching. Thank you 🙂
Hey Melissa. Thanks for your comment. I love the “budgie-smugglers” description 🙂 Not heard that one before. Enjoying your spontaneous flow xxxx
❤️
Such a great story James and helpfully insightful too🤣
Love ya, love that story, gets the message across beautifully, one minute this, next minute that, see it in myself so clearly and letting it go gets easier and easier xxx
“…or my other reaction, the puffed up chest is saying ‘now I’m special, now I’ve earned love and approval and here I’m’ and it’s still operating from that same root sense of not being enough”
Amazing discovery!
The complex, artifical, tiring, overwhelming, exhausting and endless structure suddenly looks so simple. It’s just habitual repetitions, reflexes. Nothing to be scared of, tired of. The need to recover, to be saved dissolves immediately. The yin and yang, the good and bad, the wanted and the unwanted are the same thing.
“judging the judgement”
Same thing again. They look opposites but they aren’t. It’s one mind, twisting and bending and playing this role and that role and there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s life unfolding in apparently different faces and having fun – except when it thinks there’s something wrong with that. except when it believes things should be different and s/he is any different from this or that. except when it believes it must fix things because there is a right way and a wrong way.
“so…..haahhhhhhhh”
James 1: Storyteller, someone with a message, someone who wants something for others
James 2: Stopping, changing, letting go, presence, breath, the u-turn
James 3: slowing down, connecting, the essence
and it’s not James 1,2 or 3. It’s the same thing, the one life dancing and having fun.
“what we truly are doesn’t need to play these games and neither does it need to stop these games from playing”
Isn’t that love, isn’t that freedom?
I don’t have to improve, to practice, to avoid, to change in order to be love, to be free, to be joy.
Love you James.
You are warmth and love and ease and joy
Hahhhhhh

lovely James. A picture would have been nice as now I have to live with the one my mind created. Much love
Hee hee! xxx
😆
I was hoping it would cut to
a video of the moment when you set it up -here’s what happened- and paused.
Yup, it’s in my mind’s eye, too.
Great story, good reveal
easy to relate to all the facets
Loving the ease with it all.
Thanks Jim
It’s good to meet you all here
Good to meet you too Rose 🙂
Really been beating myself up today about a ‘stupid mistake’ I made a while ago. Really connected with humiliation and shame again – an old story – but this video has helped with a bit of perspective. Thanks James. (Hopefully I’ll be laughing about ‘my own folly’ and the horrible aftermath that my mind has created about it soon!) 🙂 xxx
